Kids Crafts - Mosaic Thanksgiving

Many of the great civilizations of the world, mosaics used to display important images in specific places. During my travels in Italy in school, we visited Venice. The cathedral was a dome over the change that beautiful religious scenes and symbols depicted in mosaic tiles. Although we can not create something that the criterion used for our children, we can help them, the beauty of mosaic and understanding the effort that went into this great work.

Here's whatneed:
- Handicrafts, painting with tempera or poster (autumn colors)
- Pumpkin seeds or dried beans
- Glue
- Card stock or poster board
- Small plates and disposable forks disposable

Here's what we did:

Before We used dried red beans (we had at home). However, any dried beans will work. A variety of beans can be used unpainted, or a type of bean to be painted for color. We painted with craft paint. I splashed some 'color in the bottom of a one-wayBowl paid in beans and let the kids disposable stir with fork and stir the beans with the colors of the painting until they were all covered. We do not have a perfect finish on all the beans, but we decided that this would make our interesting mosaic. We bring the beans painted on a sheet of paper to dry, to ensure that the beans were both touch during drying.

While our second paint dry, we have a 9 x 12 inch sheets of cardboard. (This was actually part ofPackages of a child "Halloween costumes) We cut. They Quarter. My son and daughter have taken a fall / Thanksgiving image. My son has the Mayflower, and my daughter a leaf. I drew a turkey and a hat Pilgrim remaining two quarters.

A third time that our beans are dried, they moved out of the newspaper they were dry. Then glue sprayed on our images, in small sections. Caution in colored beads for the components of the sealant, we went to the end of ourMosaics.

Fourth Once all the beans were glued in place, we have our pieces dry.

Some tips:

Before If your children are really small, you should use great beans beans or beans like butter. This will be easier for little fingers and cover a larger area faster.

According Note that your designs will be colored small objects and these are limited to the details possible. Remind your children of this design, when their images, so thatthey are large, generalized forms than highly detailed drawings.

Start the mosaic with the third most important. For example, our pilgrim hat, we started with the tip of the hat. I sprayed adhesive on the top, that would be black and we filled in then we added the gold buckle. After the red stripes, then the board.

Fourth If your children are tired, or afraid that their patience, not least the project isyou may remember that space, their sound a bit '. Even on our pilgrim hat, beans are very close to the hat, but some spread in the background.

As always, there are unlimited variations possible. You can do this project again and again. Subject to change, do yourself a Christmas present. Change materials, try pebbles, beads, buttons, tiles. You are only limiting factor is your imagination. So use your imagination and have fun!
